It’s late and I have a paper still to finish writing tonight, so I’ll direct you elsewhere to get your contraception news fix for now. All of these stories are out of the US, which is a good enough theme for me.
- A South Dakota Senate committee has approved a bill to send to the Senate floor that would end legal protection for pharmacists who refuse to fill prescriptions for birth control. The current law allows pharmacists to refuse to dispense medication they believe might be used for an abortion or suicide.
- Indiana and Pennsylvania seem to be moving in a different direction though.
- Unprotected sex for $1000? Definitely not worth it, but that’s how much a former Washington state representative allegedly offered a man in an adult bookstore in Spokane.
- Kroger has begun to sell low-cost generic prescription drugs at pharmacies in Michigan, including Ortho Cyclen and Ortho Tri Cyclen for only $9.
- I really like this detailed post about the Ortho Evra contraceptive patch and blood clot risks. The FDA has recently updated the labeling on the patch to warn users that it may have a higher risk of blood clots than other lower dose hormonal contraceptives.
